Ablo is available in more than 180 countries since its launch and is creating over 50,000 friendships every day. Below is our recent interview with Joost Roelandts, CEO at Ablo:
Q: There are already a number of chat apps on the market, why do you think yours is superior?
A: We think that the fact of meeting new people from all around the world is the key to our success. Our users get in touch with people they would probably never meet in real life, which means that they can also learn about other cultures and countries that they otherwise might not. As the app translates your conversations live, it literally tears down barriers. This is also why we think Google crowned Ablo as ‘Best App of 2019’. According to them, ‘Ablo is truly standing out from the rest. It surprises and delights them with its ingenuity and polish. Beautifully designed and thoughtfully executed. Google loves Ablo’s mission of creating surprising connections and its encouragement to learn about unfamiliar cultures.’

Q: Can you give us insights into your features?
A: On Ablo, you can chat in your own language, as the app will automatically translate each text to the receiver’s language. Even video calls have translated captions. Initially you connect with any other user that might be live at that same moment, but you can also target specific regions or continents in order to have conversations with people that for example are living in one of your future travel destinations. On Ablo you can challenge your new friends in order to unlock badges & receive rewards. You can also show off your city with unique 360° videos.
Q: How would you convince the reader to try your app?
A: Ablo takes you from one continent to the other, from Paris to Rio de Janeiro. You’ll meet people that will talk to you about their country and its customs. You’ll gather local tips for your upcoming trip, exchange your favorite local music, learn about your new friend’s favorite pizza topping, or simply travel the world from the comfort of your home, in your own language.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: We would love to keep growing like we did over the last year as we want to connect more & more people to have meaningful conversations worldwide. Ablo gets better & more refined the more people are using it. The more diverse the users are, the better the app will become. We want to have users in every corner of the world, so our users can keep travelling to new countries each time they connect.
