Below is our interview with Benjamin Fabre, Co-Founder and CTO at DataDome:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: DataDome was founded in 2015 with the express goal of ridding the internet from fraudulent traffic, so that sensitive data remains safe and online platforms can perform at optimum speed.

We help protect businesses (and their bottom lines) by detecting and blocking the most advanced bot attacks in real time. DataDome detects, on average, a new bad bot every millisecond. Our AI-powered bot detection engine detects, classifies and blocks all automated threats in real time, empowering our customers to focus on growing their business, instead of looking over their shoulders and worrying about bot attacks.

We currently have 150 customers to date – mostly enterprise digital commerce businesses, including Axel Springer, AngelList Talent, Australia Post, carsales.com Limited, and Foot Locker.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: We’re thrilled to have recently announced we closed $35M in Series B funding, led by New-York based Elephant and with support from our existing investor, ISAI. We will leverage this investment to aggressively scale our global sales, marketing, delivery and R&D teams, and puts us on track to double our Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and customer base. More than 50% of this growth will come from the US.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Based on AI & Machine Learning, our cybersecurity solution detects & blocks in real-time the most advanced bot attacks. Unlike competing anti-bot protection and mitigation software, it requires no architecture changes or DNS rerouting, and will never be a single point of failure.

Bad bots and online fraud can cripple digital businesses, putting data security and the customer experience at risk. Indeed, bad bots use up a substantial part of a digital business’ infrastructure resources, resulting in slow downs, and even downtime, which negatively impacts the user experience, and by extension, conversion rates and revenues.

Behind the scenes, our threat intelligence SOC team is always at work. They actively monitor, 24/7, the billions of requests processed by our AI to detect any relevant outlier events.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: We fully expect to double our $15M ARR over the next 12 months, as well as our customer base, and significantly grow our number of employees; right now we have 70 employees across our three headquarters (New York, Paris, Singapore) and aim to have a total of 120 by the end of the year.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: The story of how we came to be! DataDome is the third company co-founded by Benjamin Fabre and Fabien Grenier. Their latest success was TrendyBuzz, a social media monitoring company, acquired by Linkfluence in 2014.

TrendyBuzz analyzed millions of online conversations every day and in real-time due to a unique and proprietary bot technology. Benjamin & Fabien soon realized that similar techniques were being used at an alarming rate by hackers to build bad bots and attack digital commerce businesses. Compounding the matter, there was a lack of easily deployable solutions to combat these attacks. To address this situation, Benjamin & Fabien leveraged their expertise in the field to launch DataDome, the only anti-bot solution that can be deployed and activated within minutes by online businesses under attack.
