Below is our recent interview with Shiv Shankar Ganesh, Founder of Kaching:

Q: This is the first time we have spoken. Can you provide a brief overview of Kaching?

A: We’re a Chennai startup that’s built an elegant and simple solution for you to reward your customers for referring their friends to your store. Kaching truly believes that there is no better marketing for a store than the recommendation made by happy and satisfied customers. When that good nature is recognized and rewarded, it truly unlocks the magic of word of mouth!

Q: How can your platform help influencers?

A: We built the attribution layer for offline purchases that are driven by online content, which has largely been impossible to do so far. Our solution for stores to now track and reward customers for their referrals is a game-changer for influencers. Prior to this, You couldn’t show a referral code or affiliate link at a Bath & Body Works outlet, even though an influencer or friend’s story is actually the reason you discovered a store and chose to make a purchase decision. Same for F&B, Zara, H&M, Sephora – et all. We solve that by enabling creators, celebrities, moms, influencers, high-school kids, and everyday people to be recognized for all the value they drive and add to their favorite outlets right from their profile.

Q: What were the main challenges you faced in developing the company?

A: The main challenges we faced when developing the company was that when we were a beloved deals app, we found the market to be saturated with bigger players like Zomato, Eazydiner, Nearbuy, Dineout, etc Apart from this, we realized that the app by itself played the role of a huge influencer by driving footfall to the outlets but the merchants struggled to see the value-driven, and the fact that monetization hinges on capturing recognition made scaling revenue a challenge.

Q: What’s the best thing about Kaching that people might not know about?

A: Being present in offline stores, powering and funneling their entire word-of-mouth & referrals while simultaneously acquiring the best influencers in every city is what sets us apart.
