Below is our recent interview with Mark Weathers, Senior Vice President Operations at Energy Internet Corporation:

Q: Mark, can you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Energy Internet Corporation is engaged in the business of enabling the green transition using its innovative liquid piston compression technology to solve the biggest challenge with renewable energy… intermittency. Our core technology is an adaptation of proven processes and equipment to serve various functions at the center of energy storage. Our ability to compress gas nearly isothermally gives us the ability to store energy as compressed air where other technology cannot go… days, weeks or months. The same core technology supports more efficient production of hydrogen or ammonia for longer term or higher energy density storage. Our equipment sits at the center of the supply and demand and our software connects and orchestrates equipment from any supplier to store energy or produce ammonia for its intrinsic value.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: EIC is a startup founded in 2018 and is approaching commercial launch readiness. Being selected for the Montijo Clean Fuels Hub Green Ammonia project is a vote of confidence on both our ability to enhance the processes and our methodology to link the equipment though our control system. While the project must pass technical and economic review, we are excited about this opportunity to help move the world to the carbon light future that we need to survive.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: This is only the first of many opportunities we have in our pipeline and we are looking forward to more announcements soon. One of our key addressable markets is datacenters which can reduce or eliminate their carbon footprint with renewable energy by using our technology to enjoy consistent and reliable power around the clock and day after day, not to mention eliminating diesel generator backups and evaporative cooling. Microgrids are another great opportunity to use EIC to firm up solar and wind power for reliable feeds and optimal purchasing or selling of power. We have several good prospects for re-purposing defunct fossil fuel plants by tying renewables to the existing infrastructure with low cost storage as the enabler. Even steady supplies such as geothermal can increase their capacity factor by using our storage to balance the peaks and valleys of demand that would otherwise be a limiter.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: The thing that I find intriguing about EIC is that our software and controls software architecture is as important as the hardware to our value proposition. Our CEO, Shankar Ramamurthy, is a serial entrepreneur in this space and we are applying his experience and vision to make a conglomeration of equipment and processes work together to turn high variability and unpredictability into the firm and reliable power we expect… without the carbon!
