Below is our recent interview with Holly Haughney from Yodel Pass:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Yodel Pass is a rapidly growing SaaS business focused on solving two problems using digital delivery to mobile devices:
- The fraudulent use of passes, memberships, and tickets
- Significantly reducing congestion at entrances to recreation facilities, events, and parking lots.
We prevent the use of copied or fake passes by our unique contactless visual validation that deploys two factor authentication. Patrons can purchase Yodel Passes on a website or the Yodel App. The digitally delivered Yodel Passes have both a moving QR code and a changing code and color. Staff have a digital device that shows the correct code and color so that they can look at the passes and identify fraudulent passes immediately. For patron entrances, a group can hold up their digital devices and be waved in if they have the correct code and color along with a QR code that is moving. This contactless visual validation eliminates congestion at entrances.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Yodel Pass has comprehensive solutions for parking. For attended entrances, patrons can use a Yodel Pass for visual validation enabling rapid entry. In addition, license plates or the moving QR code on the pass can be scanned by a mobile device.
Yodel Automation is our solution for unattended parking facilities. Vehicles enter the parking lot without stopping since automated cameras with License Plate Reading (LPR) technology capture the license plates as vehicles enter or leave the parking lot. Since there is no gate at the entrance, there are no backups for entering vehicles. Patrons pay by plate when they reach the parking lot using their mobile devices to purchase a Yodel Pass. Unpaid vehicles are visually flagged on a mobile application used by enforcement. Staff spends less time on enforcement by using a list that identifies unpaid vehicles by color and license plate.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: In addition to Yodel Pass and Yodel Automation, we offer the Yodel E-Card. The E-Card can be used with existing systems. This means that our customers do not need to rip and replace their current systems to enjoy the benefits of a digitally delivered pass. There are many memberships, passes and permits that are delivered by paper or plastic cards. The benefits of digital delivery include:
- Delivery of the card in hours not weeks
- Environmentally friendly elimination of the cost of printing and mailing cards
- Ability to message patrons to inform, remind and survey them via their digital device
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: Yodel Pass has launched products that solve problems and provide benefits for Parking, Tours, Events , Parks and Recreation venues, and Museums. We are excited for our platform release which will address mobile cashiering and self service web portal. We believe that the technology has broad applicability and can be used for other market applications. Our plans are to understand pain points for other markets and to launch Yodel Pass products that solve problems for more applications. Some areas we are focusing on include clubs, associations, and permits.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We often get questions about why our company is called “Yodel” Pass. Our original technical approach involved the use of a sound for validation of passes, so the valid passes were “yodeling.” We moved to the visual validation approach, but the original name stuck. This illustrates the best thing about our company: Yodel Pass is comprised of a creative group of software engineers and engineers who always find the best technical solution for a product.
