Codesigned is an Atlanta-based technology company with a focus on solutions designed on top of the Microsoft SharePoint platform. Here is our recent interview with Jake Weaver, the Founder and CEO of Codesigned:

Q: Jake, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?

A: I guess you could say that running a business is in my blood. Both my dad and my grandfather owned their own businesses. I was interested in tech from a young age, and I built my first computer in 1996 when I was living in a small Missouri town. From there I was hooked. My professional career began at age 21, where I started working for the global consulting firm Accenture. Later, I moved to Atlanta to become a SharePoint consultant at Technisource, which is where I recognized the incredible capacity that SharePoint offers to help companies address a myriad of technical needs. Armed with 14 years of deep experience in tech, I ultimately decided to launch Codesigned to bring a higher level of user experience to the industry.

Q: Can you provide a brief introduction to Codesigned and what your company does?

A: We are developers and problem solvers with a consistent focus on creating beautifully designed solutions. We like to say, “we create wonderful things.” Our main focus today is on the enterprise intranet and our flagship product is IntranetPro, which brings modernization of the SharePoint intranet to our customers. Codesigned works exclusively in the enterprise space, with companies of more than 500 employees. Our IntranetPro solution keeps their organizations connected, engaged, and aligned. We proudly serve industry-leading clients like Cox Communications, Citizens Bank, Rheem, Tablots, Arby’s, Allergen and Baystate Health, among others.

Q: You’ve recently launched a new internal communications platform using Microsoft SharePoint – what can you tell us about that?

A: Sure! We saw how companies like Cox, Texas Roadhouse and Inspire Brands were using our platform to communicate with their employees. The engagement and responses to articles posted by senior leadership were amazing. Our IntranetPro solution was turned into a major crisis communication tool for these companies, and their employees were so grateful for how clear the communication was. An example of this positive feedback was one employee telling his employer that he was “proud of their leadership, and impressed with how they prioritize employees in times of crisis”. That type of response is what every person in senior leadership strives to get, and there are countless more examples similar to this.

We wanted to offer an internal communications tool to help companies during this unprecedented pandemic. So, we worked quickly to launch a new version of our main platform that is focused specifically on crisis communications. It is for companies that already utilize SharePoint, and it provides an easy way to communicate or provide access to important things across an organization.

Q: Why did you decide to make it available for free?

A: We made it for free to do our part to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a company, Codesigned has believed in the importance of giving back from the very start. We have been very active in the Atlanta community, and we wanted to do something significant during this time.

Q: Who is this new platform designed for? Who are your clients?

A: We only work with enterprise clients who have more than 500 employees, and our flagship product IntranetPro was designed with this type of client in mind. Imagine you are a very large organization where content is flowing to your intranet constantly – things like new documents being uploaded, articles being created, and many pages talking about a new rollout or other initiative. Codesigned can tailor content to users, all while still providing necessary resources and communications to all employees. We also have an employee engagement analytics engine that gives owners insight into engagement levels of their content.

Q: Are you planning to make any updates to the new platform in the next year or so? Any hints on what’s coming next?

A: Yes. We are actually now creating a new version of our platform, and we have been inspired to make it modular. Clients will be able to start with simple communications, and then add other core pieces as they want to expand their intranet with things like different departments, an employee directory, collaboration spaces and new employee onboarding experiences.

Q: What makes this platform different than other internal communications solutions available?

A: First and foremost, we sit on top of Microsoft SharePoint. We leverage the investment many companies have already made in Office 365 and SharePoint. From a price point that makes us very attractive. On top of that, we work with all of our enterprise clients to tailor a solution to their unique needs. We understand that no two enterprises are the same. Each has its own slant and unique needs that will make their intranet work for them. We start with our powerful, easy-to-launch solution and then create something truly special for each of our customers.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

A: I know I have talked a lot about the technology we have at Codesigned, but what truly sets us apart is the relationships we build with our clients. Every company that has purchased our platform in the past is still a customer today, and many have said that we are the best vendor they have ever worked with. I think my personal commitment to building productive relationships goes back to my Midwest roots. My parents worked hard their entire lives and instilled a strong work ethic in me. My goal for Codesigned – past, present and future – is to make sure companies know we have their back, and that we have a commitment to making sure our quality of service is second to none.
