Below is our recent interview with Lars Benesch, Business Development Director at MantiSpectra:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: MantiSpectra was founded October 19th, 2020 and a spin-off from Technical University of Eindhoven. This after eight years of research focussed on miniaturization of spectrometers. ChipSense™, the first product, was launched one year later after all supporting infrastructure (electronics, optics and software) was finished. Since then, analytical system manufacturers, industrial integrators and smart electronics manufacturers have adopted ChipSense™. The company is founded and run by a multidisciplinary team, covering all expertise fields needed.

The focus of MantiSpectra is the introduction of miniaturized spectral sensors, that are low cost, very sensitive, versatile and mass produced on a wafer scale.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: The honour of receiving the Hermes Startup Award emphasizes the resonance of our development and industries, fitting in the path of sustainability, IoT adoption and innovation strength. Our slogan “Join the Spectral Revolution” also refers to the following quote: “The 20th century was the century of electronics. The 21st century will be the century of photonics.” IRINA BOKOVA, UNESCO DIRECTOR GENERAL. The application of wafer scale integrated photonics will result in higher quality, faster throughput times, more stabile quality, trust based on truth, enables circular economies and reduced resource consumption.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: MantiSpectra offers ChipSense™, an NIR spectral sensor covering 850-1700nm. For proof-of-concept projects we have development kit available for all types of optical interaction: fiber connected, reflective and transmission. Next to that we freely ship SpectraByte™ data acquisition software with our development kits, have developed SpectraWeb™ as our intuitive analytics cloud platform and developed MantiScloud™ analytics backend cloud platform. This all is built to facilitate the adoption of our core technology: ChipSense™. As we have full control about the manufacturing process, we are also capable of building custom solutions, like sensor modules and other photonics chip infrastructures.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: MantiSpectra’s ChipSense™ is currently adopted by smart home appliance manufacturers, industrial integrators and analytical device manufacturers. If possible, we will share these successes with press releases, either with these partners or by ourselves. In the meantime, we are exhibiting at the Laser world of Photonics in Munich and we will be present to network at a lot of other trade shows.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: MantiSpectra is a very international group, we are with 12 and have 6 different nationalities. Next to that we are very lean and make use of the fantastic ecosystem that the Brainport metropol region, PhotonDelta and Microlab provide. This and the heritage of the Philips concern that shaped the dynamics in the area of Eindhoven, makes us very strong. The key success factor here is horizontal supply chain integration, where expertise and capacity is shared over different meso-economical verticals.
