Below is our recent interview with Nevo Alva, CEO and Co-Founder of Acumen:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Acumen?

A: Acumen is the secret weapon dev teams use to deliver high-quality software on time. The platform is built to address the pain that many software engineering teams experience as they grow: declining velocity, missed deadlines, and management overview. Acumen unifies and analyzes engineering data to create a high-res picture of the team’s activities and recommends steps to avoid risks and boost productivity.

Q: What is your core competence?

A: Delivering recommendations that help software engineering teams make better decisions at every stage (from planning through execution) to avoid risk and increase productivity. To enable this, we’ve built out unique machine learning capabilities that enable us to a) create a clear picture of the team’s activities by stitching together data from multiple sources (e.g., linking a project between GitHub and Jira); b) train on individual user and team-level patterns; and c) predict future risks (e.g., a certain project will likely result in a bug based on similar previous tasks)

Q: Can you tell us something more about your pricing plans?

A: Acumen prices primarily on a per “data contributor” basis. There is a simple three-tiered pricing structure that includes enterprise features (like data retention, support for on-prem, etc.). More information on our pricing can be found here.

Q: You’ve recently raised $7 Million in Seed funding; can you tell us something more?

A: Our investors are Hetz, 10D, Crescendo, and Jibe. Statement from Pavel Livshiz, Partner at Hetz: “At a time when every team in the enterprise is becoming more data-driven, engineering has struggled to keep up. Acumen finally delivers the cross-system visibility and intelligent guidance that teams need to make engineering less of an art and more of a science.”

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Following a closed beta with roughly a dozen design partners for the past year, we just publicly launched Acumen. We plan to use the round primarily to continue expanding our product offering with new use cases and features. We’re growing our software engineering team fast – you can find more on our website.
