Wyre AI secured $5M in pre-seed and seed funding, led by Ironspring Ventures, to scale its AI platform that turns construction drawings and specs into structured scopes and early risk insights.

Wyre AI raised $5 million in combined pre-seed and seed funding. The seed round was led by Ironspring Ventures, with participation from WND Ventures (DPR Construction’s corporate venture arm) and the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC). Angel investors included Amar Hanspal (CEO of Motif Systems and former Autodesk co-CEO), Rajesh Ram (co-founder and Chief Growth Officer at Egnyte), and Joseph Khoury (VP of Preconstruction and co-founder of MCN Build), among other construction tech veterans.

The company, based in the Washington, DC area and founded by repeat ConTech entrepreneur Sunil Dorairajan, positions itself as an AI powered document intelligence and preconstruction risk management platform. It emerged from stealth in April 2026 after roughly 15 months of development in close collaboration with preconstruction and operations teams.

Sunil Dorairajan, Founder and CEO, spent over a decade in commercial construction (preconstruction, estimating, and operations) before co-founding Pype. Pype focused on making construction documents machine readable for submittals and compliance workflows and was acquired by Autodesk in 2020. Dorairajan has described the core preconstruction problem as largely unchanged: small teams must review thousands of pages of drawings and specifications under tight deadlines, with missed details routinely becoming costly change orders, RFIs, or margin erosion. Wyre AI extends the Pype thesis upstream into scope generation and risk detection.

The technical leadership includes CTO Varada Pyda, previously head of engineering at Pype and later leading AI solutions at Autodesk Construction Solutions. The broader team draws from former Pype and Autodesk professionals and incorporates in-house subject matter experts who have validated model outputs. LinkedIn lists the company in the 11–50 employee range (with earlier references around 17).

What is Wyre AI’s technology?

Wyre AI offers two tightly integrated solutions:

  • Wyre Scopes: Ingests a full set of drawings and specifications, identifies every scope of work, and produces organized, trade specific, structured scope packages and bid items with full traceability (linking each item back to the specific drawing excerpt or specification language). The company claims this can reduce scope generation time by approximately 80 percent and, according to one pilot, by 100–350 hours per project depending on complexity and team size.
  • Wyre Check: Performs automated cross referencing of drawings against specifications (and shop drawings) to surface gaps, contradictions, conflicts, and compliance issues before bidding or buyout. Every flagged item is traceable to source documents.

The platform is purpose built for construction document structure rather than a generic LLM wrapper. It relies on proprietary trained models, SME tagged data, and domain specific validation to improve accuracy and reduce noise. Outputs are designed for review and refine workflows rather than fully autonomous decisions. The company emphasizes integration readiness with common ecosystems (Autodesk, Procore, Trimble, Bluebeam).

By the time of the funding announcement, Wyre AI reported having analyzed more than 250 projects, identified over 250,000 scopes and issues, and supported more than $3 billion in project value. Customers and pilots cited include Okland Construction, Jacobsen Construction, BE&K Building Group, Rycon Construction, Miller Davis, MCN Build, DiPasquale Construction, and Cardella. Testimonials highlight time savings in scope development and buyout, improved consistency and traceability, early detection of high impact conflicts (for example, discrepancies between drawings and specifications on equipment), and usability by both preconstruction and operations teams.

Preconstruction remains one of the most document intensive and least digitized phases of the construction lifecycle, yet it is where design is locked, contracts are signed, and margins are largely determined. Industry data frequently cited in this space points to coordination failures and rework eroding roughly 10% of contractor margins on average and contributing to tens or hundreds of billions of dollars in annual industry waste. Labor shortages among experienced estimators further amplify the pain.

Wyre AI competes in a growing field of AI powered construction document intelligence tools. Direct or adjacent competitors and alternatives include capabilities inside larger platforms (Procore’s DataGrid/Helix AI features, Autodesk Construction Solutions including the former Pype assets) as well as specialists such as Trunk Tools and others focused on drawing review, risk detection, or takeoff. Differentiation claims center on deep construction domain training, dual focus on both structured scope generation and proactive risk/conflict detection, full traceability, and origin in real preconstruction workflows rather than generic document AI.

How will Wyre AI use the funds?

Proceeds are earmarked for expanding R&D and product development and growing the go to market team to serve rising demand from general contractors, subcontractors, and construction managers. The investor syndicate is notable for its construction industry orientation: Ironspring Ventures has prior exposure to Dorairajan via Pype; WND Ventures brings strategic proximity to a major general contractor (DPR); VIPC adds regional public private support; and the angel group supplies operator credibility and network effects.

The round validates a focused thesis, applying specialized AI to the highest leverage, most error-prone phase of construction, backed by a founder with a prior successful exit in an adjacent document intelligence problem and early commercial traction with recognizable contractors. Success will hinge on continued model accuracy and low noise results at scale, seamless workflow integration, measurable ROI on margin protection, and the ability to expand beyond early adopters in a competitive and consolidating ConTech landscape. The combination of operator backed capital, domain expertise, and demonstrated project volume positions Wyre AI as a credible specialist player in preconstruction risk intelligence.
