Q: How did you get the idea for TickTalk Tech? Tell us your story.
A: The idea was envisioned by the owner and creator, Joey Choi. Both owners, Vivian Gong and Choi, are both busy business owners / entrepreneurs and most importantly parents to a 10 year-old daughter. Always traveling and busy working both Joey and Vivian wanted a secure way of being able to communicate with their daughter without investing in an expensive cell phone. So, they began researching and developing the TickTalk as the ultimate way to keep the lines of communication open with their daughter. Being able to have a safe and reliable way to reach her throughout the day was very important to them. After researching what was currently available in the market today, Choi found that some watches offered some really important features but were maybe missing some elements that any common cell phone might have. Choi set out to develop a watch that had all the important features of a regular cell phone but with the user ability for a child between the ages of 5-12.
Q: You’ve recently created the 3rd generation of the TickTalk; could you tell us something more?
A: After our launch of the original TickTalk 1.0 in 2016 we knew that with the ever evolving cell phone landscape updates and new releases of the TickTalk would be a necessary part of the process. With the phasing out of 2G cell phone networks a 4G version was a natural progression. After we came out with the TickTalk 2.0 we got really positive feedback from our customers. The limitation for the TickTalk 2.0 was that it would not work on an AT&T network only on T-Mobile 2G, but unfortunately not all areas in the US had T-Mobile network available. Some places had no reception and therefore were unable to use the TickTalk 2.0 in their area. We knew that we needed to move on to a 4G network so we could satisfy all of our potential customers. As Choi and our team of engineers set out to create the newest version they were able to use their years of experience as cell phone engineers to create the TickTalk 3 with the latest technology and features that our most powerful cell phones currently use today. On a side note, we also listened carefully to the growing customer base as to what they wanted to see if future generations of the TickTalk. This was a very important and helpful way for us to learn what was expected for the US market as well as internationally.
Q: What are the main features of TickTalk 3?
A: -4G Universal Bands
-Voice, Wifi and Video Calling
-2MP camera
-2-way text, voice messages with emojis and pictures
-Real-time Locator with Route History
-IP67 Waterproof technology
-Things To-Do Reminders
-Super Hearing
-Changeable and durable nylon bands
Q: Can you give us insights into your products?
A: There are so many moving parts involved in the research and design of this product that we understood that the testing phase was going to make a huge difference in creating a valuable product that lived up to the past generations of the TickTalk smart watch phone. We tested the hardware, operating system, APP’s, and the servers extensively to ensure the TickTalk 3 functioned properly. We used our first working prototype to test reception with different SIM cards from different carriers. Before our products are released, we put in hours of testing for every single aspect of the hardware. We understand that the internal functions of the watch are the most important part of making sure the TickTalk 3 will work! The many little wrists and parents that rely on the TickTalk 3 to communicate will not be disappointed!
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Our goal is to create a community for parents and kids. We want kids to be able to connect with family and friends in a secure and monitored way. We know that social media and social connections are a part of the future so we want to create a space where kids and parents can feel it would be okay to do this outside of the current social giants most adults use today. In the future we want to families to be able to download various educational apps, music, and eventually a voice activated assistant, much like Siri for Apple.
