Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Yes, sure, I’ll be happy to. Svipe is a deep tech company active in the identity verification area. We use advanced technology to solve problems related to trust, cyber security and privacy on the Internet.
Our flagship product is a mobile “e-gate” similar to the one you pass at the airport for border control but entirely done in the phone. By reading the chip of a biometric passport or national ID-card we get access to real digital and electronically signed data related to a person. Advanced biometrics verify that the holder of the ID-document is its true owner. With this data we create a version of the person’s ID-doc and place it on the users phone. It is now up to the user to share their identity credentials digitally with any person or company online.
The Discord bot is a good example of how this tech can be used at internet scale. We are solving a problem – in this case age verification – to validate that people are indeed over 18 to access restricted channels. Apart from being very accurate I think the privacy is what makes this particularly interesting for the Discord community. The user is in essence not sharing any data with the server owner – nor with Svipe after the initial onboarding. Yet a user can in less than 10 seconds confirm to be over a certain age. One can righfulnessly call this a piece of magic!

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: It is amazing to see the vibrant activity on the Discord platform. There are a lot of very intelligent people around there with the skills, the needs and the cuoristy to use new tech like ours. We already have several servers that have implemented the bot on their guilts.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: Apart from offering this Discord bot we also have a corporate offering for any company that wants (or needs) to know parts or the full identity of their users. We are for example working with the authorities for higher education in Sweden to provide identity proofs when issuing eduID to forigne students and researchers. The intention is even to use Svipe to identify researchers when accessing high-security areas like supercomputers.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: We will continue to make magic happen on the Internet. We for example see that Internet platforms are suffering quite a lot as they lack real-world identities. Have you for example ever tried to reclaim a lost or suspended account from Instagram? This is close to impossible. The potential liability for the platform to – if something goes wrong – open up the account to the wrong person is simply too large. With Svipe this problem can be solved in an easy, fast and very secure way. That is one area that you will see more traction from Svipe in the foreseeing future.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We are a much smaller team than most people think. Building secure and awesome tech does not necessarily need lots of headcounts, instead one has to be focused, know the domain and be curious to think outside of the box.
