Sellr is an instore and online solution for retailers to easily list promote hundreds or even thousands of products in an easy and automated way. Below is our recent interview with
Bruce van Zyl, President at Sellr:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Sellr?
A: We connect with a store’s POS system to pull the UPC of every products sold in the store and their respective prices. This data is matched with our library of over 200k products to display detailed information about products including images, descriptions, and other helpful information to shoppers. This information is made available to shoppers on 10” tablets mounted on shelves or on a customized website through our Shopify integration. We’re currently in 30 states / 49 cities.
Q: Who is your ideal customer and why?
A: Our solution is built primarily for specialty retailers who sell complex products like wine, beer, spirits or even health products like vitamins, supplements, and OTC. Shoppers are often overwhelmed by some of these complex products and have to rely on store staff or revert to an online search for product information. Our solution is built for shoppers to learn more about these products without having to download an app.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your platform?
A: Sellr tablets make it easy to lookup information or filter products to a handful of relevant options. For example, if you’re in a wine aisle and you’re looking for a red wine that pairs well with beef, that’s less than $15, our tablets will help you find that. Our detailed product information allows shoppers to do this kind of detailed search on the web or in-store to help increase confidence.
Q: What are your plans for next six months?
A: We are in the process of rolling out a new partnership with BevTV and HeathTV. These new integrations will provide engaging content on tablets when the tablets are not in use. You may see a video from liquor.com on how to make a beautiful cocktail or see newly released products from popular brands. In the health aisle you may see content on home remedies for a cold. This allows the tablets to be even more helpful to shoppers and retailers. We’ll be partnering with other content creators and popular brands to bring cool and engaging content to tablets.
Q: What’s the best thing about Sellr that people might not know about?
A: Most people don’t realize that our team has curated and built the product library of almost 200k products ourselves. Every image, description and product note has been researched, edited, and approved by our team, by hand. We also have developed all our own software to manage this content and allow our customers to manage their products in a simple dashboard.
