Reframe Systems raised an additional $40 million in venture equity financing, to scale its network of robotic microfactories for industrialized home construction across North America.

Reframe Systems’ recent $40 million round was led by Energy Impact Partners (EIP), with participation from Counterpart Ventures, E12 Ventures, Global Brain, Thin Line Capital, Up Partners, and the LACI Impact Fund. Existing investors also continued their support, including Eclipse, VoLo Earth, Cubit Capital, RA Capital Management (Planetary Health), MassMutual Catalyst, and Nor’easter.

This follows a $20 million Series A in August 2025 (co-led by Eclipse and VoLo Earth Ventures, with participation from MassMutual Catalyst Funds, Cubit Capital, RA Capital’s Planetary Health, Saga Ventures, and Nor’easter Ventures). Aggregators place cumulative capital raised in the range of roughly $60–73 million across multiple rounds (including earlier seed activity). The latest raise is described in coverage as a Series A extension or Series A-II.

What is Reframe Systems?

Reframe Systems is a physical AI / construction tech company founded in 2022 by former Amazon Robotics leaders Vikas Enti (CEO), Felipe Polido (Head of Tech), and Aaron Small (Head of Operations). At Amazon Robotics (and previously Kiva Systems), the founders helped scale automation systems that deployed more than 500,000 robots across the global fulfillment network.

The company operates as a vertically integrated design build manufacturer. It combines proprietary software (including “Pixels to Parts”), industrial robotics, digital work instructions, and high performance materials in a network of small, local microfactories. These facilities produce customized, resilient homes (single family, duplexes, townhomes, multifamily including triple deckers, ADUs) tailored to local codes, climates, and architectural styles. Reframe acts as architect of record and general contractor, owning the process from design and permitting through fabrication, delivery, and occupancy.

Key claimed advantages versus traditional construction include delivery three times faster and at ~35% lower cost, with millimeter precision, airtight shells, climate resilience (including wildfire resistant designs), reduced waste, and shorter supply chains. Microfactories are designed for rapid stand-up (lean teams, compact footprint) and high capital efficiency.

How will Reframe Systems use the funds?

Proceeds will accelerate home deliveries in New England and fund additional microfactory capacity across North America. The centerpiece is FAB1, a new microfactory in Billerica, Massachusetts. Operations are scheduled to begin October 5, 2026, with full factory readiness targeted in under 70 days from receiving the keys. FAB1 is designed to produce up to 500 multifamily units or 250 single family homes annually using less than $5 million in equipment.

As of the announcement, Reframe had completed 10 homes (ranging from ADUs to triple decker apartments), of which eight were occupied. It expects to deliver 114 additional units over the following year. Current activity includes finishing 12 units at Adams Circle in Devens, Massachusetts (now selling), a five story apartment building in Roxbury, a development in Thornton, New Hampshire, and wildfire resilient projects (bungalow and ADU) in Altadena, California, supporting post fire rebuilds. Projects span New England and Southern California.

The company has raised its long term target to one million homes worldwide by 2040 (five years ahead of its prior schedule), emphasizing continuous learning across software, robotics, and the factory network so that each home improves the economics and speed of the next.

The U.S. faces a multi million home housing shortage driven by fragmented, labor intensive on-site construction reliant on a shrinking skilled trades workforce. Reframe’s model of distributed, software orchestrated microfactories near demand centers aims to address scalability, cost, speed, quality consistency, and climate resilience while avoiding the rigidity and high capital intensity of traditional large modular factories.

The investor mix reflects alignment with energy transition, climate resilience, impact, and deep tech themes (EIP’s energy focus, LACI’s cleantech orientation, RA Capital’s Planetary Health strategy, and prior Amazon Robotics scaling expertise). The capital efficient microfactory design (sub-$5M equipment for meaningful annual capacity) and rapid deployment timeline for FAB1 are positioned as differentiators that lower operational risk relative to larger fixed plants.

Overall, the $40 million raise marks a scaling inflection: from early completed units and dual market traction to a multi-site North American network, with near term production ramp in Massachusetts and a clarified ambition of one million homes by 2040.
