Red Maple is a software company that has been in business since 1997. In the last 15 years, Red Maple has specialized in Credit Card processing software for larger companies wanting to integrate their credit card processing with their Microsoft Dynamics software. As Microsoft Dynamics has grown, so has Red Maple. Below is our interview with Patrick Hodo, CTO of Red Maple:
Q: You’ve recently introduced StagedPay; could you tell us something more?
A: Companies know that one of the few ways they can get on the front page of their local paper (or even a national paper) is by losing credit card numbers to bad actors. As a result, more and more companies are searching for ways to remove the credit card from the business entirely. While eCommerce and Retail have solutions to let companies create secure solutions, the standard phone orders do not have a solution – until now.
Q: StagedPay is designed to prevent attacks and theft by locking up data separately; can you give us more insights into your software?
A: StagedPay is designed to be easy to use. It’s ready to go and is integrated into current systems so that companies can start using it right away. It’s simple to understand: Merchants and their customers both “get it” right away and see how this benefits them both. And it’s secure. With a hosted solution through Microsoft Azure and Red Maple’s experience, companies no longer have the credit card number–ever. The safest transaction is the one where you never had the credit card in the first place.
Q: What have been some major milestones over the last 12 months?
A: Submitting the StagedPay concepts for a patent in September of 2017 was the biggest milestone for Red Maple. Knowing that we had thought of a new way of securing credit cards and being able to finally deliver that to customers was a big step in solving an equally big problem. We all benefit from the solution when fewer card numbers are stolen.
Q: What is unique about Red Maple and how does it stand out from competition?
A: No one else can deliver a solution like StagedPay. We looked! With partners such as Microsoft and credit card processors, there is no competition when it comes to securing company’s data. You don’t have to hide what you never had in the first place. Companies can legitimately say that they never had the customer’s full credit card number. And their customer’s data is safer as a result.
