Purkeys works with heavy-duty trucking Original Equipment Manufacturers, such a liftgate or trailer manufacturers, and with individual heavy-duty trucking fleets. They provide electrical solutions that help their equipment work more efficiently and keep their batteries charged and maintained. They also back them with warranty policy and expert client support team.

Below is our interview with Celia Bishop from Purkeys:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Purkeys?

A: Trucking fleets today face a lot of challenges. Driver retention. A shrinking pool of technicians. Increased competition. Increased regulation. The list goes on and on.

Fleets are doing everything they can to increase efficiency in the face of these challenges. New equipment such as liftgates and electric pallet jacks can help fleets maximize efficiency. This equipment should help fleets deliver more – in less time. But one dead battery can put a truck out of service, eliminating all the gains from new equipment.

Purkeys helps fleets maximize the effectiveness of their auxiliary equipment. Our unique solutions ensure batteries stay charged by maximizing the power available to charge liftgate batteries and electric pallet jacks. Fleets have so many issues to worry about—we work to ensure batteries are not one of them.

Q: Could you explain the most prominent advantages of Purkeys’ DIRECT nosebox line?

A: One of the challenges faced by heavy-duty trucking fleets today is the lack of space of the front of the trailer. With more and more products on the market to contend for a position on the front of the trailer, consolidation becomes key.

Our recently released DIRECT™ nosebox line (the DIRECT PLUS, DIRECT FLEX, and DIRECT MAX) allows fleets to utilize the functionality of both the nosebox and their liftgate charging system in one convenient container, freeing up much needed space on the front of the trailer.

Justin Purkey, CEO of Purkeys, explains it like this: “The consolidation will be a significant benefit for fleets. This generation of our liftgate charging system marks a significant landmark—previous generations are really cool, but we’ve taken it even further as we’ve streamlined the offerings. It’s easier to install, easier to inspect, easier to troubleshoot—we are confident that between the three offerings, we will be able to provide the power the fleet needs.”

The DIRECT nosebox line provides many benefits to fleets in addition to the compact design, including:

• providing peace of mind by maintaining and protecting batteries
• saving money by maximizing battery life and reducing downtime/road calls
• easy to read LED indicators
• continuing to charge for a time after the tractor is turned off
• replaceable/removable receptacle in case of damage
• interior light timer control

The interior light control is an additional feature added since the product line was announced in November. It allows the truck driver to select whether the lights inside the trailer remain on for 30, 60, or 90 minutes, allowing the driver to work as needed inside the trailer while ensuring that the batteries will not become depleted by the interior lights.

Q: Tell us something about Purkeys’ Pack Accelerated Charger?

A: When heavy-duty vehicle batteries become severely discharged, fleets have problems getting their trucks to start. Purkeys’ Pack Accelerated Charger (PAC)™ helps fleets keep batteries at a good state of charge so that the truck can function properly.

The PAC is 100-amp continuous charger that can be hooked up directly to the batteries of a truck, without having to remove the batteries from the vehicle. It is compatible with both AGM and flooded cell batteries, and can charge up to eight batteries simultaneously. It also shows how long it will take batteries to charge, based on voltage and number of batteries being charged, and decreases recharge time.
