Below is our recent interview with Magnus Larsson, Acting President and CEO at Pricer:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Pricer offers a scalable solution for in-store communication based on electronic shelf labels (ESL), digital signage, and shelf cameras. The solution enhances both in-store efficiency, from replenishment and inventory to click and collect and waste management, and the shopping experience. The electronic shelf labels allow for dynamic price changes and consumer engagement by providing information to the consumer at the shelf edge. The solution is being managed through a SaaS-based or on-prem system.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Pricer ShelfVision is a shelf-mounted camera on the opposite side of the aisle to ensure planogram compliance and gap detection, improving on-shelf availability and maximizing rebates. The data is managed from an integrated platform in the cloud for stability and reliability and can be used for greater efficiencies across the entire supply chain. This will ultimately help retailers improve the availability of the products, reducing waste from overstocking, and cutting labor costs while freeing people up to focus on higher-value tasks.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: As mentioned, the ESL-based solution also adds value for the consumers. Research undertaken by Pricer revealed that 64% of consumers want more access to product information at the shelf edge, rather than just pricing – a demand that cannot be met using traditional paper labels. ESLs, by contrast, can attractively display price, promotion, key ingredients, and allergens, as well as the barcode for scanning or product location direction, providing a breadth of information for consumers who now ask about product sourcing, worker as well as animal welfare, and sustainability, in addition to the price. Adding a QR code also gives access to further information.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: The offering of the whole range of in-store communication will be enhanced and at the center of the company strategy. This will enable retailers to engage with shoppers, staff, and suppliers to enable store process efficiency and increase sales.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Even though the technology has been around for some 30 years, there is a constant stream of innovation. Yesterday electronic shelf labels were used only for quick price changes. Today they are part of an effective platform for a wide range of innovations that show a very fast ROI for retailers, both independent stores and retail chains, all over the world.
