Q: You’ve recently officially expanded your operations into western Canada; could you tell us something more?

A: MOBIA has gradually expanding west for many years. Headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the first major expansion was into Ontario many years ago. Naturally, we wanted to expand further west, but would not compromise on the quality of people and team. In Chris Peerless, Vice President of Western North America, we have an individual that has built an Integrator before and had the same vision of building a business technology integrator. Chris previously worked for Scalar Decisions in Vancouver, British Columbia, building their organization from 12 people to 150 in just under 5 years. We are confident that under his leadership, combined with MOBIA’s subject matter experts and business units that we have a great opportunity to quickly become a leader in Western Canada.

Q: Can you give us insights into your services?

A: MOBIA has 5 core business units: Infrastructure, Cloud, CyberSecurity, Broadband/Wireless Services & Software Development. We partner with industry leading technology companies across the world and help bring their solutions and value proposition to our clients. The MOBIA difference is that we not only broker the sale of these vendor solutions, we provide industry leading professional and managed services, or further, custom development using our software development capabilities. This is a unique value proposition for our customers and one that we feel no other company in Canada can provide.

Q: Can you provide an example of where MOBIA built a custom software application for a customer?

A: Having a Software Development business unit is a big differentiator for MOBIA. Many VAR’s can sell a product, some integrators can install or provide a service on that product, but it is very rare to also be able to extend software development capabilities to those same clients. One great example is with a Global Aviation Company and one of the largest companies in that world, that MOBIA has partnered with over the years.

This customer had repair facilities across the world and found that processes were often duplicated and there was no standardization of protocols or a place where things were centrally managed. MOBIA worked alongside the customer to understand the issue from a business perspective and then custom developed a cloud based web application which centrally managed technical specifications and work package implementations. The result for the customer was providing them with a faster time to market with significantly reduced overhead and costs.
