Below is our recent interview with Antonello Cerviero, CEO & Founder of Cerviero:

Q: Can you provide a brief overview of Cerviero?

A: Cerviero is a plant cultivation and irrigation system propelled by state-of-the-art technology and verified by blockchain technology. Cerviero is based on hydroponics – a superbly efficient way to grow and maintain plants without the need for actual soil.

Hydroponics uses various nutrients and minerals that are dissolved in water. All the necessary materials are infused into the solution which can support and in most cases even accelerate plant growth.

Once the plant is successfully produced in the nursery stage, it is transported to the main growth area, essentially a greenhouse, on the inert support framework that is placed approximately 60 cm above the ground which is irrigated continuously with all the relevant nutritive solutions and minerals which are required to maintain natural nutrition.

Carbon dioxide fertilizers mixed with oxygen and nitrogen that are abundant in the air supply facilitate photosynthesis and enrich the environment for uninterrupted vegetation throughout the whole year. Cerviero offers a new generation approach to food cultivation in indoor farms.

Blockchain:
In order to keep track of all operations, inputs, and outputs of the system, to measure the levels of efficiency and production Cerviero is implementing a blockchain-based system. Blockchain technology was chosen given its capabilities to record and archive all operations within the system thus ensuring authenticity and transparency which are key characteristics for efficient management.

What is more, regular nowadays consumers are getting increasingly more knowledgeable and environmentally-aware. They are demanding to know where and in what conditions were the products they consume produced and what biological footprint has that production inflicted on the earth and the environment. Industry experts forecast that major food producers and manufacturers soon will have no other option but to procure all such information to the public or risk being dropped from society’s shopping carts. Cerviero is jumping ahead of the line and is implementing food traceability architecture from the start of development.

Of course, there are auxiliary features of blockchain-powered systems that go perfectly with what Cerviero is building: it helps prevent fraud and ensures trust in the network, it also enables to create utility tokens to be used as a payment method within the boundaries of the system.

Moreover, blockchain is already being used in the food manufacturing and agriculture industries namely to fight counterfeiting, reduce waste and make supply chains more effective, ensure

This tells us that we will need more food, especially quality, water saving, today there are technologies available that allow water saving and a substantial reduction in waste, such as hydroponics and reduce CO2 in the world.

It should be known that most of the products that are on the market, people do not really know what is inside, by using blockchain technology the end customer knows exactly what is inside, traceable and transparent.

Q: What is next on the roadmap for Cerviero?
