Smartphones are already like miniature computers, but Intel’s got a new device that turns an actual PC into something you can take with you wherever you go. Intel compute card was first unveiled at CES earlier this year and honestly it really promises to revolutionize the way we look at the computer aid.
You can get this with a range of different processor options, with an ultra efficient Celeron chip for instance, but you can also get this with a Notebook class core i5, which is honestly crazy amount of power to be packing so that it could actually fit inside your wallet. You can also get this with a number of different configurations, that include 4GB of Ram and 128GB of storage, as well as built in AC 265 wireless networking and then also Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. As you can imagine there are a number different companies that are wanting to take advantage of this card, LG, Dell, HP are already working on some different accessory solutions.
For now Intel is also showing a reference design that is basically a small desktop PC shell with USB port and mini display port, HDMI and Ethernet connectivity. This becomes a full fledge computer when you pop in the compute cards. You can really imagine how solutions might work together with similar notebook style shells or even home theater equipment to make for a PC computing experience that remains tailored to you, you can take it to almost anywhere.
