Below is our recent interview with Heini Zachariassen, CMO & Co-founder at HARDWARIO:

Q: This is the first time we have spoken. Can you provide a brief overview of HARDWARIO?

A: We are Czechia based company with a branch in London, UK. We design and manufacture unique IoT devices which work on batteries for several years, thanks to LPWAN can connect to the Internet from almost anywhere and can be easily integrated with other systems.

Together with our partners we successfully implement them in digitization projects in industry, agriculture, retail, healthcare or education.

Q: Tell us something more about your products? Why are they unique?

A: We are hardware experts with a strong know-how in design also manufacturing on large scale. For our partners, we can cover all phases process from R&D to sourcing and manufacturing.

Our main focus is on low-power devices, IoT and LPWAN. Talking about our products, the most important are IoT hub CHESTER – NB-IoT / LoRaWAN multipurpose device. CHESTER supports plenty of interfaces to connect all kinds of sensors. That means our partners and customers can build product and services in various industries, such as manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, etc. which have a unique proposition: digitize information and transfer it from literally anywhere to a single location where you can visualize it, create real-time actions, or for example, use it for machine learning.

We also offer a unique IoT kit TOWER which is used in companies as a platform for rapid development and prototyping. Without a strong knowledge of programming and electronics, you can build your own IoT device, which uses LPWAN and can run from batteries for years. These features make TOWER also a great product for active STEM education. It is also undisputed that the best way to learn STEM is active learning. In this way, students are actively involved in solving a real problem. In cooperation with pedagogical experts from EDvisor Finland, HARDWARIO offers detailed STEM lessons using its research-based REALISE-EXPERIMENT-APPLY- REFLECT pedagogical framework.

Our product portfolio includes also COOPER – 9 in 1 environmental IoT multisensor and EMBER – IoT hotspot for deploying private LoRAWAN networks.

Q: How secure are your IoT devices?

A: All of our devices have cryptochip which ables encode communication. We also rely on the security of used LPWAN and for example actively cooperate with Vodafone.

Q: What’s your revenue model? How are you funded?

A: We focus on selling our hardware devices and help partners implement them in their industry. One of the great examples is the company Statotest which has built continuous online monitoring of the structure using our IoT devices. They were awarded by Microsoft and recently mentioned in Financial Times.

We have one investor FS Assets and we were also successfully active on 2 crowdfunding platforms – Indiegogo and Fundlift.

Q: What is next on the roadmap for HARDWARIO?

A: We are actively looking for new partners all over the World with a focus on the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Czechia, Slovakia, who will use our devices to create new businesses and their revenue streams on top of them. We offer them our know-how, devices, services and also a large dose of inspiration from the projects of our current partners and customers.
