Below is our recent interview with Nelia Kovbasa, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Uksmeel:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Uksmeel is a full-service PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYER ORGANIZATION focused on launching technology companies in the Ukrainian market. Our main goal is to assist global tech companies with hiring engineers and opening R&D offices directly in Ukraine. We help to pass all the issues with compliances, regulations, lack of market presence. Our team has been working in the IT industry for over 15 years, we know all the pitfalls and how to overcome them. We help technological businesses to expand in Ukraine fast and smoothly.

Q: The main features of the market today and how it has changed over Covid time.

A: To introduce the market, we should say that Ukraine is one of the first in Europe in terms of IT services exports. In Ukraine, we have more than 110 R&D centers of well-known international companies. 21 companies of Ukrainian origin and with development offices in Ukraine are included in the list of Global Outsourcing 100. There are about 250 thousand IT experts in Ukraine. The annual growth of the number of experts in Ukrainian IT annually averages 20%. Ukraine is the rising and fast-growing start in terms of software development. And the COVID-19 situation made the cooperation with Ukrainian engineers even easier. All over the world 71% of developers mostly work at home through quarantine, another 12% partly at home and partly in the office, and 9% worked remotely before the pandemic. Only 7% visit the office regularly. Companies started hiring globally as there are no reasons to limit their capacity by the country’s borders. So, potentially, a quarter of million engineers in Ukraine are ready to support the tech business from any part of the world.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Once we’ve launched the company, we know what basic things are needed to start operations in Ukraine. Thus, the main Uksmeel services are recruiting, onboarding, remote team administration, payroll, benefits, Human Resource Management, accountancy, compliance. We have 3 proposals for cooperation: Fast start (for small teams – better suits for startups), Stable Growth (for teams starting from 20 people, here the processes are built in Ukraine as the additional office), Mature Presence (large teams, more suitable for subsidiaries).

Q: What do you predict for the future?

A: Watching the new global and local trends to be:

  1. Hybrid work. Everyone went online and remote, huge offices became useless.
  2. Unification of banking systems in most countries. This allows quick payments to any part of the world.
  3. Communication. In Ukraine, most of the developers speak English, so they feel comfortable working with international companies.

We believe that first-class specialists should give the freedom to their potential and find the best workplaces, wherever they’re located. Thus, Uksmeel is here to help in finding the best employee-employer match.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: The main idea of launching Uksmeel is to make easy operations of any tech company in the Ukrainian labor market. Thus the best thing the company receives while working with Uksmeel is transparency in any corner. Our clients know everything – starting from regular salary rates ending with a benchmark of perks producers. Working with Uksmeel makes the company much easier to integrate with the local market here in a way like all 15 years of our experience became theirs within just one day.
