Below is our recent interview with Megg Dunlap from ConstructSecure:

Q: Megg, can you tell us something more about your company?

A: ConstructSecure is the leader of the Partner Elevation movement for builders and owners of capital projects. The world’s most admired organizations — including Skanska, Merck, and Bond Brothers — use ConstructSecure to ensure their contracting partners deliver great work, on budget and on schedule, by collaborating with them to dynamically mitigate safety, financial, quality and sustainability risks throughout every project lifecycle. Originally started as an internal risk assessment system at Harvard University, ConstructSecure is now an independent company championing the Partner Elevation movement. ConstructSecure is backed by global growth equity investor Summit Partners. The company is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, with employees across the United States.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: ConstructSecure announced that it has raised $96 million in growth capital, led by Summit Partners.

The investment reflects ConstructSecure’s new, broader mission to help clients win by elevating the capabilities of their partners to deliver great work, the key tenet of the Partner Elevation movement.

The investment will enable further product development to create an even more robust Partner Elevation Platform, uniquely positioning the fast-growing company to accelerate the movement and elevate the entire industry.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: ConstructSecure is designed to deliver the capabilities builders and owners need to engage the highest-potential partners and chart a path to success, collaborate with partners on the job to dynamically mitigate new and evolving risks, and review project and partner performance together to continuously learn and improve.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: We have already doubled the number of employees driving the Partner Elevation movement forward and we’ve opened a brand new headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts. This year, we’re opening a second office in Boise, Idaho and we’ll be increasing our headcount by over 100% in both locations while also hiring the best talent remotely across the country.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Our founder, Garrett Burke, built the first version of our product as an internal risk mitigation platform for capital projects at Harvard University.

Garrett was the Associate Director of Occupational Safety for almost a decade. In this role and responsible for ensuring the safety of Harvard’s students, faculty, staff and partners during major construction projects and facility operations. With billions of dollars of projects underway and hundreds of contractors, suppliers and vendors working around the Harvard campus, Garrett needed a way to assess and mitigate risk.

Together with Harvard faculty and staff, Garrett designed an internal solution. They leveraged sophisticated analytics to support risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle. And with his construction-industry colleagues always in mind, Garrett focused on the user experience and making enrollment simple for his partners.

In 2008, at the request of the contracting community and with Harvard’s backing, ConstructSecure was spun out as an independent company. Since then, ConstructSecure has enabled the world’s most admired companies, including Skanska and Merck, to elevate their partners and collaborate to do their best work.
