Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Commtrex is a tech-enabled rail logistics provider with a team of experienced rail professionals, an extensive network of partners, and a best-in-class technology platform that simplifies freight by rail and creates a competitive advantage. As the largest rail logistics platform, Commtrex offers both premium and self-serve rail logistics solutions. Commtrex provides strategic services to companies that are new to rail and to those that are seasoned but looking to gain an advantage through improved service and lower operating costs. The Commtrex Marketplace empowers shippers to find and connect with transload services, storage locations, warehouses, lessors, and a wide range of service providers. Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Commtrex has completed its acquisition of Precision Rail Management Group (PRMG), a company that provides managed rail logistics services for shippers, short line railroads, transloaders, and trading firms. The addition of rail logistics services comes at a time when shippers are looking for value-added services that will save their companies time and money and improve the flexibility of their supply chain program.

A: PRMG brings a combined 20+ years of working with shippers and interfacing with railroads in order to help solve their supply chain issues. Shipping by rail can be complicated, and effectively managing the lifecycle of a rail shipment requires a considerable amount of time and a high level of expertise. This expansion allows Commtrex to provide an entirely new service offering for shippers, including a program designed specifically for those who are new to rail. Other services include managed rail shipping solutions, short line railroad & transload support, and customized reports & dashboards.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: Commtrex plans to further expand its logistics services program and increase involvement with the physical movement of freight in addition to connecting the supply and demand sides of the industry through its transload, storage, leasing, and buy/sell marketplaces. At the same time, Commtrex is developing advanced data services and analytical tools that capture various activities within the freight movement industry to support companies in their efforts to maximize decision-making potential.

A: Within three years, Commtrex has grown to over 2,800 active members, over 1,000 of whom are commodity shippers moving freight by rail across North America. Commtrex has partnered with all seven Class I Railroads, 80% of all transload sites, and 85% of all railcar storage providers.
