Below is our recent interview with Sam Brenner, COO of BoxCast:

Q: What is BoxCast?

A: BoxCast is an easy, flexible live streaming platform that empowers thousands of organizations around the world to engage and grow their communities through high-quality video. We believe that any event that is watched live should be streamed live and that any organization can be a great broadcaster.

Launched in 2013, BoxCast is proud to be headquartered in the great city of Cleveland, OH.

Q: You’ve recently raised $20,000,000 in Series A funding; can you tell us something more?

A: It’s a big step for our company. Our purpose is to make people part of the experience. The Series A investment allows us to not only continue to serve that purpose well but also to further accelerate our product innovation and customer acquisition efforts. The investment was led by Updata Partners, a leading tech-focused growth equity firm in Washington DC, with participation from Shure, a leading global manufacturer of audio equipment. We’re excited to work with a proven operating partner such as Updata and deepening our relationship with a strategic partner such as Shure at this stage in our journey.

Q: Can you describe a typical use case for your solution??

A: The heartbeat of our customer base are organizations that are integral parts of our communities: houses of worship, high schools, colleges, municipalities, and businesses. While the events they stream are unique to the organizations themselves, the use case is similar: they have event-based experiences they want to share with a broader audience and they use BoxCast to do so.

It’s also fun to witness the creative use cases we’re seeing out in the marketplace. Sri Lanka’s tourism board streamed sessions last month that showcased the island’s wildlife. The organization said the campaign generated more than 22 million impressions and 1.7 million video views. There’s a white labrador retriever breeder in Arkansas who uses BoxCast to stream video of puppies growing up to eventual owners. There’s a kettlebell kickboxing gym in Canada that uses BoxCast to stream many of its classes. There’s a former United States presidential candidate who used BoxCast to broadcast campaign events and now uses BoxCast to broadcast a daily video series to thousands of loyal fans.

Q: Can you tell us something about your streaming plans?

A: We have four streaming plans: Essential ($99/mo), Growth ($149/mo), Experience ($199/mo), and Premium ($999/mo). We also have a number of Add-On features including Multi-Site Player, Ticketing, Concurrent Broadcasts, Branded Smart TV Apps, Automatic Scoreboard Overlay, Extended Broadcast Duration, and Automated Live Captioning. For anyone interested in comparing the full list of our features and add-ons across all of our plans can easily do so by visiting https://www.boxcast.com/how-boxcast-works/compare-streaming-plans

For any organization that’s interested in giving BoxCast a try, we offer a 14-day free trial. No credit card required. No strings attached. We intentionally make it very easy for anyone to kick the tires and see if BoxCast is the right solution for their organization.

Q: What are your plans and goals for the future?

A: We’re a product-led company that is hyper-focused on the user experience. What that really means is that key stages of the user journey—acquisition, expansion, conversion, and retention—are all driven primarily by the product itself. Our products are the largest source of sustainable, scalable business growth. Our goals for the future are pretty simple: (1) continue to create products that users love and find to be valuable and (2) continue to invest in the engagement and development of our employees and cultivate a culture our team is proud to identify with.
