below is our recent interview with Terri Roeslmeier, the Founder, and CEO at Automated Business Designs:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Automated Business Designs develops the web-based SaaS solution, Ultra-Staff EDGE. Ultra-Staff EDGE is a staffing and recruiting software solution designed for temporary, direct hire, and medical staffing companies. Automated Business Designs, also known as ABD, has been serving the staffing and recruiting industry with leading-edge software solutions for almost 40 years. In fact, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year! We have over 500 clients nationwide and in Canada using our solution to staff, recruit, onboard new employees, process payroll, and more every day.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: We were proud to be named a 2022 Best and Brightest Company to Work for in Chicago! This is our seventh consecutive year receiving this award. Each year we strive to grow our company culture and implement new best practices. This year we transitioned full-time to a hybrid work model, which we had never done before as a company. Pre-pandemic we worked in the office 5 days a week. After working at home for over a year during the pandemic, we found that productivity was still very high at home and employees enjoyed having the flexibility of working at home. We still see a lot of benefits though to collaborating in person. It also helps with employee comradery. The hybrid schedule has been well received by everyone and you get the best of both worlds with it! Employees come into the office twice a week and work at home the rest of the week. The office is equipped with several collaboration tools for when they are in the office including hello chairs, a huddle room, think stations, and dry-erase walls.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: What’s unique about Ultra-Staff EDGE is it provides an all-in-one solution for staffing and recruiting companies. The Ultra-Staff EDGE suite includes a full applicant tracking system (ATS) and customer relationship management (CRM) tool in its front office solution. The suite also includes back office for processing payroll, including accounts payable and general ledger. Additionally, we offer a web portal suite with onboarding and VMS, mobile solutions, and a scheduling module for per diem and travel nurse/locum tenens scheduling. The all-in-one solution allows staffing and recruiting companies to streamline their data and ultimately saves time and money, increases efficiencies, and allows management to see key insights into their business. Through our advanced reporting and BI data analytic tools, key KPI’s can be tracked through visualizations and interactive dashboards. Management always knows what’s going on in their business!
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: At ABD the research never stops and the innovation never ends. We are always developing enhancements and new solutions. In the next few months, we are excited to be releasing two new cutting-edge solutions for the staffing and recruiting industry. Both of these solutions will be unveiled at our Virtual 40th Anniversary Client Party in August. Stay tuned for the announcement!

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We are the oldest vendor in the industry with the newest solution! Technology is always changing and the needs of the staffing and recruiting industry are constantly evolving. We continuously think about how we can meet those needs through technology and software automation. ABD works closely with our customers and stays actively involved in local and national staffing associations to understand the industry challenges that are being faced. It’s interesting to look back on how technology has changed over the past 40 years! If we didn’t change with it and with the industry, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
