Below is our recent interview with Ken Tung from Asura Technology:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Asura Technology?
Ken Tung: Asura was founded in Fall of 2018 by Lip Yow and John Chi. It all started from the typical Mac vs. PC conversation. Lip who has been a life-long Mac user never had much experience with PC, and John was just the opposite, a hardcore Gaming PC supporter. The result of the conversation was to create a company that serves products into both markets. Their goal is simple, do the best to impact Mac and PC users on a daily basis by ways of increase performance, efficiency, and staying on top with the latest tech gadget trends. The company is setup by looking after our employees first, in ways providing free (almost unlimited) Asura t-shirts to our employees, soon hoodies, free snacks (also almost unlimited, till next restock), product samples, and opportunities to learn and grow with the company. Office environment and culture can be described as fun, causal, gaming like, positive, upbeat, and a little bit of edginess. To boost office moral we hosts friendly competitions, offer recreational (gaming) breaks, and team building events. Best part is we encourage employees to think-out-loud, and speak their mind, because we believe our employees are our most valuable asset.
Q: You’ve recently released industry leading performance based SSD; could you tell us something more?
Ken Tung: Asura Genesis Xtreme SSDs are the first Gaming SSDs with RGB lighting effects (out to the mass market). Using the Phison E12 Controller with Toshiba NAND flash it has the blazing fast speeds of 3000MB write and 3400MB read.
Q: Can you give us insights into your products?
Ken Tung: As hardware enthusiasts we make the products that we want to use. Our goal can be summed up in two words “constant improvement.” Currently we are taking the latest and greatest technology and add our own flavor to it. However our ultimate goal is to create something that is totally unique and we’ll show it in our future launches as we expand into different categories.
Q: What makes you stand out from your competition?
Ken Tung: There are quite a bit of Californian nature in us, layback, business casual, sandals and slippers. In the end, we are not here to steal market share, undercut other brands (with pricing), and disrupt the market. In fact, we see ourselves as competitors and it is the way we want to progress i.e. today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be better than today. As long as each generation of products are better than the previous, that in itself will meet our expectations.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
Ken Tung: World Domination? Jokes aside, Asura is a brand that is extremely involved with our community. The rule is to be charitable, supportive, be involved, stay highly attentive, and constantly giveback the best way we can. We launched our Asura brand with a massive giveaway (Gaming PC, 55” TVs, and misc. PC Components) – www.teamasura.com/contest and free sample program to influencers for new product launches. Our approach is quite methodical, always take one step at a time and take each small successes as fundamental building blocks for the future.
