Below is our recent interview with Poet Lemar De’Medici, CEO at Tomestic:

Q: For those who have never heard of it, how would you describe Tomestic?

A: Tomestic is an extended reality company that creates an immersive reading experience. We are a hybrid of publishing, digital production, and information technology. Our medium brings physical, electronic, and audiobooks to life, combining education with entertainment.

By merging physical and digital worlds, Tomestic is a new way of reading. Our app activates an augmented reality mosaic of music, video, and animation, stimulating all senses and engaging long-term memory. We plan to “Tomesticate” all books, which means adding Augmented Reality to physical books, Virtual Reality to audiobooks, and Mixed Reality to electronic books.

The company has evolved over the past two years, but the essence of Tomestic remains systems innovation for the learning culture.

Q: How can your app help book lovers?

A: The reading experience needs a facelift. If we are all now addicted to the app interface, why not combine what we love best about paper pages and touch screens into one cohesive immersive experience? Tomestic takes nothing away from the traditional reading experience; it only enhances it with layers of information and additional experiences.

Q: What’s the best thing about your app that people might not know about?

A: As our app progresses further in its development, many features will be added to make the Tomestic app and the Living Books come alive. One thing people may not know is that every book they activate will have a digital birth certificate, recording the time to the nanosecond and the geographical coordinates where you were when it was born. This makes it significant in so many ways. The NFTs potential of each book is what excites us the most.

Q: What’s your revenue model? How are you funded?

A: Our revenue model is collecting royalties from licensing our intellectual property. So far, most of our funding has come from bootstrapping and friends and family, but we are now in the process of raising capital from angel investors.

Q: What is next on the roadmap for Tomestic?

A: With the invention of the patent-pending Organic Living Book, TomestiCoin as our cryptocurrency, and Tomesphere as our virtual reading environment where Tomestic users create a fun digital learning culture, we plan to create an entire medium. Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase, “The medium is the message.” His life’s work influenced me so much that I brought on his descendant Andrew McLuhan as our Chief Experience Officer. Our goal is to be for books what Google is for information.
