Below is our recent interview with Casey Finigan, Chief Marketing Officer at EZ-ERC:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: EZ-ERC is South Florida-based boutique advisory firm comprised of top CPAs, lawyers, and payroll specialists that specializes in assisting small and medium sized business owners, nationwide, in securing the Employee Retention Credit (“ERC), as well as complementary services including facilitating advance funding, tax insurance, and third-party legal opinions.

With the proliferation of ERC services companies in the market, EZ-ERC sets itself apart with decades of real tax and transactional advisory and experience, with a huge emphasis on quality control and risk-mitigation strategies. EZ-ERC is led by former Big 4, Big Consulting, and Big Law professionals and has become the provider of choice for sophisticated business owners and operators, including institutionally owned companies.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: Our recent announcement formally introduces myself, along with one of my partners, Maxwell Burns, to the firm. I have been meaningfully involved with the ERC since March of 2020, having led an ERC task force at my prior consulting firm, Alvarez & Marsal, and early this year took over as CEO and Managing Director of EZ-ERC. Along with helping grow the team to a network of over 60 professionals, I’ve focused my efforts on initiatives that have helped establish EZ-ERC as the leading CPA-led firm in the market.

The recent article highlights my 15 years of tax expertise as a former tax partner at Alvarez & Marsal, a global top 25 consulting firm, as well as our new Managing Director, Maxwell Burn’s, ten years across RSM, KPMG & Alvarez & Marsal.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: In the simplest terms, EZ-ERC helps companies evaluate their eligibility for the ERC and for qualifying companies, provides a comprehensive service offering to both claim the cash credits from the IRS and provide an industry-leading documentation package, often accompanied by a third-party legal opinion.

Where EZ-ERC sets itself apart from its competitors is through it’s innovate approaches on (1) maximizing the ERC though an optimization strategy, (2) prioritizing liquidity through advance funding and unparalleled IRS tracking services, (3) mitigating risk by strict adherence to the IRS’ substantiation requirement, and (4) providing every client with a comprehensive document, or our “EZ-ERC Client Package”, that thoroughly summarizes and supports every client’s eligibility claim, providing them with future peace-of-mind.

EZ-ERC has also led the market in securing one of the first tax insurance policies on an ERC receivable and played as an instrumental role in shaping the ERC advance funding market by developing a pre-underwriting program with the top ERC lender in the country, which is now used across many firms.

As mentioned previously, EZ-ERC is CPA led and has a team of qualified, credentialed professionals that have real-world IRS audit and tax controversy experience. While other firms claim they provide “audit support” or “defense”, many are not actually even permitted to represent a client under audit by virtue of not preparing and signing amended tax returns and/or not possessing the requisite credentials (e.g., CPA, JD, or EA) to serve as a “tax power of attorney”.

To date, We have found $267 million in credits for our clients, in just over a year and expect that number to double by the end of 2022.

What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: As mentioned, we have found $267 million in credits for our clients, all in just over a year and we expect that number to double by the end of 2022. In order to keep pace, we expect to grow the teams across our firm and our five network firms to over 100 professionals.

We also have a few special projects in the mix, one of which involves expanding our ability to create more widespread access to the insurance markets so that business can essentially guarantee the results of their ERC claim. Additionally, EZ-ERC continues to develop cutting edge “IRS Tracking and Alert” services that have been used to further assist our clients. We have developed a dedicated team to track, monitor, and notify our clients on the status of their refunds on a daily basis by plugging into the IRS’ Transcript Delivery Service API. This allows us to continue a communicative relationship with our clients, something that may be deemed uncharacteristic when dealing with the IRS.
