Below is our recent interview with Alicia Makaye, Vice President and Co-Founder of GXA:
Q: Can you tell us something more about the company and what you do?
A: GXA is an IT solutions business based in Richardson, Texas that offers an array of IT solutions for small businesses such as Cyber Security, IT Consulting, Virtual CIO Services, Data Backup & Recovery, Cloud Computing Services, Disaster Recovery Services and more. GXA is the Managed IT provider of choice for some of Texas’ most thriving businesses.
GXA can serve as a dedicated IT department for our clients, allowing them to focus on their core business rather than spending time wrangling with technology. We are trusted in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and are known for our dedication to the prevention and solution of technology-related problems.
Q: What kinds of problems do you solve?
A: GXA offers essential IT solutions for small to medium-sized businesses that have the same needs for security and functionality as Fortune 500 companies but lack that hefty budget. We help solve an array of problems for business owners.
We offer managed IT services that can include:
● Network Security
● Business Continuity Plans
● Professional IT Consulting
● Cloud Backups
● Email Services
● Disaster Recovery
● Cyber Security
● Virtual CIO
Our team can help map out a plan to meet each business’s needs. GXA can help clients by upgrading networks, resolving day-to-day end-user issues, protecting businesses to ensure they have the necessary security to minimize hackers, managing software and hardware choices, network upgrades, and recover data. We have the ability to customize packages to meet our clients’ needs. Our goal is to take control of our clients’ IT concerns and provide them peace of mind.
Q: You’ve appeared on the Inc. 5000 annual list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the 2nd time; could you tell us something more?
A: We’re proud of the Inc. 5000 recognition and the success GXA has had in IT business solutions over the past 15 years. Some of the country’s most successful businesses such as Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names were Inc. 5000 honorees so this award truly is an honor. While the Inc. award measures our monetary success, we also use other metrics. We count it a success when our clients succeed because we play a role in helping them reach their goals. We think it’s a testament to our work that our very first client, who joined us in 2004, still depends on our services today. We are also proud of the company culture we’ve created at GXA, growing a team of IT experts with great depth and knowledge. We want to retain that level of expertise so we make sure our employees know they are valued. In fact, our first-ever employee is still working with us.
Q: How can a business benefit from partnering with an IT consultant?
A: The services we provide are essential for businesses, but not always affordable when companies have to hire staff solely to handle IT. Many cannot afford a dedicated internal team. That’s where we come in to provide trusted business IT consulting solutions and support to other businesses. We relieve them of the burden of worrying about whether their systems are updated, backed up, or safe. When a crisis arises, they have peace of mind knowing that we are there to resolve any issue and will work round-the-clock if necessary.
Today when ransomware attacks are rampant, hackers lurk online and a system crash can spell disaster for a company, having a team with the extensive experience and knowledge of our GXA staff is critical. We offer quick response, accountability, and affordability.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: We just moved into our new headquarters in Richardson, doubling our size. We’re excited about being ready to handle the growing needs of our clients and providing great amenities for our employees. Our new location has more office space for expanded staffing, dedicated space for leisure activities, including a full break room, a prayer/meditation area, and a health & wellness room. We want to meet the needs of our team so they in turn can help us serve our customers. The future of AI is wide open and with the constant growth of technology in our daily lives we see IT as an essential component in every business.
Another future goal is to continue to dedicate ourselves to contributing to our community. We founded GXA with the intention of giving back to local and international communities. For years, we have been giving back through regular donations to food pantries and work across Texas and through humanitarian missions in South Africa, Kenya, Swaziland and Mexico. GXA’s efforts have helped feed the hungry, build water wells, support children’s homes, establish computer centers in slum schools, and organize free medical camps. Our goal is to continue to help change the world, one initiative at a time.
